Ofrecemos un himno de agradecimiento al todopoderoso, omnisciente y benevolente Dios trinitario por haber concedido a su pueblo poder celebrar el 1700\u00ba aniversario del Primer Concilio Ecum\u00e9nico de Nicea, que dio testimonio espiritual de la aut\u00e9ntica fe en el Verbo divino engendrado sin principio y verdaderamente consustancial al Padre, \u201cque por nosotros los hombres y para nuestra salvaci\u00f3n baj\u00f3 de los cielos, se encarn\u00f3 y se hizo hombre, padeci\u00f3 y resucit\u00f3 al tercer d\u00eda y ascendi\u00f3 a los cielos, y regresar\u00e1 para juzgar a vivos y muertos\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

          <\/span><\/span>El Concilio de Nicea constituye una expresi\u00f3n de la naturaleza sinodal de la Iglesia, la culminaci\u00f3n de su \u201cconciliaridad m\u00e1s temprana\u201d, que est\u00e1 indisolublemente unida a la realizaci\u00f3n eucar\u00edstica de la vida eclesial, as\u00ed como la pr\u00e1ctica de reunirse para tomar decisiones \u201cun\u00e1nimes\u201d (Hch 2,1) sobre asuntos de actualidad. El Concilio de Nicea tambi\u00e9n supone el surgimiento de una nueva estructura conciliar -la de los Concilios Ecum\u00e9nicos-, que demostrar\u00eda ser decisiva para el desarrollo de los asuntos eclesi\u00e1sticos. Es de rese\u00f1ar que un Concilio Ecum\u00e9nico no es una \u201cinstituci\u00f3n permanente\u201d en la vida de la Iglesia, sino un \u201cacontecimiento extraordinario\u201d en respuesta a una amenaza concreta contra la fe, con el objetivo de restaurar la unidad rota y la comuni\u00f3n eucar\u00edstica.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

          <\/span>El hecho de que el Concilio de Nicea fuera convocado por el Emperador y que Constantino el Grande asistiera a sus deliberaciones y elevara sus decisiones al rango de ley imperial no lo convierte en un \u201cs\u00ednodo imperial\u201d (1). Fue incuestionablemente un \u201cacontecimiento eclesial\u201d mediante el cual la Iglesia, guiada por el Esp\u00edritu Santo, tom\u00f3 decisiones sobre sus asuntos internos, mientras que el Emperador puso en pr\u00e1ctica el principio de \u201cdar al C\u00e9sar lo que es del C\u00e9sar y a Dios lo que es de Dios\u201d (Mt 22,21).<\/span><\/p>\n

          <\/span><\/span>Frente a la herej\u00eda arriana, la Iglesia en Concilio formul\u00f3 la esencia de su fe, que es experimentada de manera ininterrumpida. <\/span><\/span>El Hijo eterno de Dios, \u201cconsustancial al Padre, [\u2026] Dios verdadero de Dios verdadero\u201d, mediante su Encarnaci\u00f3n, salva a la humanidad de la esclavitud del enemigo y nos abre el camino de la deificaci\u00f3n mediante la Gracia. <\/span><\/span>\u201c\u00c9l se hizo hombre para que nosotros nos hici\u00e9ramos divinos\u201d (2). El S\u00edmbolo de Nicea proclama la firme convicci\u00f3n de que la desviaci\u00f3n her\u00e9tica en cuesti\u00f3n constitu\u00eda una negaci\u00f3n de la posibilidad de salvaci\u00f3n del hombre. En este sentido, no es una simple declaraci\u00f3n te\u00f3rica, sino una confesi\u00f3n de fe, igual que todos los textos dogm\u00e1ticos de la Iglesia: una articulaci\u00f3n genuina de la verdad que vive en ella y a trav\u00e9s de ella.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

          <\/span>Tiene una importancia teol\u00f3gica particular el hecho de que la base del Sagrado S\u00edmbolo (\u201cCreemos\u2026\u201d) consiste en un s\u00edmbolo bautismal local o un grupo de s\u00edmbolos de ese tipo. Como genuino portador de la autoconciencia perenne de la Iglesia, el Concilio recapitula y reafirma el dep\u00f3sito Apost\u00f3lico conservado por las Iglesias locales. Atanasio del Grande menciona que los Padres Sinodales, \u201cen asuntos de fe, no escriben: \u2018Nos pareci\u00f3\u2026\u2019, sino: \u2018Esto es lo que cree la Iglesia cat\u00f3lica\u2019, y al mismo tiempo confesaron lo que ellos cre\u00edan para demostrar que no se descubr\u00eda nada nuevo en lo que ellos escrib\u00edan, sino que su mentalidad era apost\u00f3lica; en otras palabras, que se trataba exactamente de lo mismo que hab\u00edan ense\u00f1ado los Ap\u00f3stoles\u201d (3). La convicci\u00f3n de los Padres divinamente instruidos era que nada se estaba a\u00f1adiendo a la fe de los Ap\u00f3stoles y que el S\u00edmbolo verdaderamente ecum\u00e9nico de Nicea supone una proclamaci\u00f3n de la tradici\u00f3n com\u00fan de la Iglesia cat\u00f3lica. Los Padres Conciliares, a los que la Iglesia ortodoxa honra debidamente y celebra en sus himnos como \u201cjustos protectores de las tradiciones apost\u00f3licas\u201d, adoptaron el t\u00e9rmino filos\u00f3fico de \u201csustancia\u201d (y su derivado \u201cconsustancial\u201d) para expresar la fe ortodoxa acerca de la divinidad del Verbo, que Arrio negaba (y, con ello, negaba al mismo tiempo todo el misterio de la Econom\u00eda Divina salv\u00edfica encarnada al enredarse en los conceptos helen\u00edsticos, rechazando con ello al \u201cDios de nuestros Padres\u201d en nombre del \u201cDios de los fil\u00f3sofos\u201d).<\/span><\/p>\n

          <\/span>Otro asunto de vital importancia que el Concilio de Nicea estaba llamado a resolver para incrementar la unidad eclesi\u00e1stica en la pr\u00e1ctica lit\u00fargica fue el de \u201ccu\u00e1ndo y c\u00f3mo debemos celebrar la fiesta de la Pascua\u201d. El 1700\u00ba aniversario de la convocaci\u00f3n de este Concilio ha vuelto a traer a colaci\u00f3n la conveniencia de una celebraci\u00f3n com\u00fan de la Resurrecci\u00f3n del Se\u00f1or. La Gran Iglesia de Cristo reza para que todos los cristianos del mundo entero recuperen, de acuerdo con los decretos del Concilio de Nicea, la celebraci\u00f3n de la Pascua en una fecha com\u00fan, tal y como, por una bendita coincidencia, ha ocurrido el a\u00f1o en curso. Dicha decisi\u00f3n servir\u00eda como prueba y como avance genuino en el camino ecum\u00e9nico compartido y en nuestra com\u00fan comprensi\u00f3n mediante el di\u00e1logo teol\u00f3gico y el \u201cdi\u00e1logo de la vida\u201d, como testimonio tangible de nuestro respeto pr\u00e1ctico hacia lo que hemos recibido de la Iglesia indivisa. Alcanzar dicho objetivo, en el contexto del aniversario que celebramos este a\u00f1o, era la visi\u00f3n conjunta del Papa de Roma Francisco (de bendita memoria) y nuestra Modestia. Su fallecimiento justo despu\u00e9s de que toda la cristiandad celebrara la Pascua pone de relieve nuestra responsabilidad para continuar en esta direcci\u00f3n sin vacilar.<\/span><\/p>\n

          <\/span><\/span>La obra can\u00f3nica del Concilio de Nicea tambi\u00e9n fue significativa formulando y afirmando sinodalmente la conciencia can\u00f3nica perenne de la Iglesia, estableciendo el comienzo y la elevaci\u00f3n del sistema metropolitano, as\u00ed como la posici\u00f3n prominente y la responsabilidad expandida de ciertos Tronos, de la que gradualmente surgi\u00f3 el sistema de la Pentarqu\u00eda. En tanto en cuanto que el legado can\u00f3nico de Nicea es patrimonio com\u00fan de todo el mundo cristiano, el aniversario que celebramos este a\u00f1o est\u00e1 llamado a servir como una invitaci\u00f3n a volver a las fuentes, sobre todo a los reglamentos can\u00f3nicos primigenios de la Iglesia indivisa.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

          <\/span>El Trono Ecum\u00e9nico de Constantinopla ha servido perennemente como garant\u00eda de las decisiones de Nicea. Este esp\u00edritu de la Gran Iglesia de Cristo tambi\u00e9n fue descrito a trav\u00e9s de la Enc\u00edclica Patriarcal y Sinodal con ocasi\u00f3n del 1600\u00ba aniversario del Concilio como \u201cel primer Concilio Ecum\u00e9nico y verdaderamente el m\u00e1s grande de la Iglesia\u201d (4). La decisi\u00f3n de celebrar el aniversario con \u201cun acto festivo y conjunto si es posible de todas las Iglesias ortodoxas autoc\u00e9falas para manifestar la fe y la persistencia hasta nuestros d\u00edas de nuestra Santa Iglesia Ortodoxa en la ense\u00f1anza y el esp\u00edritu de ese Concilio, cuya inspirada decisi\u00f3n por un lado estableci\u00f3 y sell\u00f3 la \u00fanica fe de la Iglesia y por otro present\u00f3 espl\u00e9ndidamente la unidad de la estructura de la Iglesia mediante la presencia de delegados de todos los rincones de la Tierra\u201d desgraciadamente al final no fue posible debido a circunstancias excepcionales y a que el Trono Ecum\u00e9nico qued\u00f3 vacante. El 9 de Julio de 1925, el primer Domingo despu\u00e9s de la entronizaci\u00f3n del Patriarca Basilio III, el \u201ccompromiso atrasado\u201d se pudo cumplir con la celebraci\u00f3n de \u201cuna Liturgia Patriarcal y Sinodal especial\u201d en la venerable Iglesia Patriarcal. Lo que tiene una importancia eclesiol\u00f3gica particular es que la Enc\u00edclica subraya el valor de adoptar la obligaci\u00f3n de la Iglesia de Constantinopla, \u201cal estar m\u00e1s directamente asociada con la fiesta y ser responsable de ella\u201d, de celebrar este aniversario, \u201cque es inmenso para toda la cristiandad\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

          <\/span><\/span>El Concilio de Nicea constituye un hito en la formaci\u00f3n de la identidad doctrinal y en la estructura can\u00f3nica de la Iglesia. Ha seguido siendo el modelo para el manejo de los problemas de fe y de orden can\u00f3nico a nivel ecum\u00e9nico. El 1700\u00ba aniversario de su convocaci\u00f3n le recuerda a la cristiandad las tradiciones de la Iglesia antigua, el valor de la lucha com\u00fan contra los errores de la fe cristiana y la misi\u00f3n de los fieles de contribuir a la multiplicaci\u00f3n de los \u201cbuenos frutos\u201d de la vida en Cristo, seg\u00fan Cristo, y dirigida hacia Cristo en el mundo.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

          <\/span><\/span>Hoy estamos llamados a se\u00f1alar el mensaje duradero del Primer Concilio Ecum\u00e9nico de Nicea, las dimensiones soteriol\u00f3gicas y las consecuencias antropol\u00f3gicas del t\u00e9rmino \u201chomo-ousios\u201d, el v\u00ednculo inseparable entre la cristolog\u00eda y la antropolog\u00eda en una era de confusi\u00f3n antropol\u00f3gica y de intensos esfuerzos para hacer hincapi\u00e9 en lo \u201cmeta-humano\u201d como horizonte abierto y perspectiva autodivinizadora de la evoluci\u00f3n humana, con la contribuci\u00f3n de la ciencia y la tecnolog\u00eda. El principio de la \u201crealidad divino-humana\u201d incluye la respuesta al callej\u00f3n sin salida de la visi\u00f3n contempor\u00e1nea de un \u201chombre-dios\u201d. As\u00ed, la referencia al \u201cesp\u00edritu de Nicea\u201d nos ofrece una invitaci\u00f3n a volvernos a los aspectos esenciales de nuestra fe, cuyo n\u00facleo es la salvaci\u00f3n de la humanidad en Cristo.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

          <\/span><\/span>Nuestro Se\u00f1or y Salvador Jesucristo es la revelaci\u00f3n plena y perfecta de la verdad sobre Dios y sobre el hombre. \u201cEl que me ha visto a m\u00ed ha visto al Padre\u201d (Jn 14,9). El Verbo encarnado demostr\u00f3 \u201c\u00e9l solo y por primera vez\u201d, tal y como afirma San Nicol\u00e1s Cab\u00e1silas, \u201cal ser humano verdadero y perfecto, ejemplar en su conducta, en su forma de vida y en cualquier otro aspecto\u201d (5). Esta Verdad est\u00e1 representada en el mundo por la Iglesia una, santa, cat\u00f3lica y apost\u00f3lica; es la misma Verdad que la nutre, la misma Verdad a la que ella sirve. La Iglesia porta la vestimenta de la de la Verdad, \u201ctejida con la teolog\u00eda de lo Alto\u201d, exponiendo siempre rectamente y glorificando \u201cel gran misterio de la piedad\u201d, evangelizando al mundo con fe, esperanza y caridad y anticipando \u201cel d\u00eda sin fin que no conoce ocaso ni sucesi\u00f3n\u201d (6), el reino venidero del Padre, del Hijo y del Esp\u00edritu Santo.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

          <\/span><\/span>La tarea de la teolog\u00eda es revelar la dimensi\u00f3n soteriol\u00f3gica de la doctrina y su interpretaci\u00f3n en t\u00e9rminos existenciales, lo que, junto con la participaci\u00f3n en el acontecimiento eclesial, exige sensibilidad e inter\u00e9s genuino en el ser humano y en la aventura de su libertad. En este sentido, la proclamaci\u00f3n de nuestra fe en el Verbo divino encarnado debe ir acompa\u00f1ada de nuestra respuesta tangible a su palabra salvadora: \u201cUn mandamiento nuevo os doy: que os am\u00e9is los unos a los otros como yo os he amado\u201d (Jn 15,12).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

          <\/span>En recuerdo, pues, de los dones inefables que ha concedido y sigue concediendo al mundo, glorificamos incesantemente el sant\u00edsimo y esplendid\u00edsimo nombre del Se\u00f1or de todo y Dios de amor, a trav\u00e9s del cual hemos conocido al Padre y a trav\u00e9s del cual el Esp\u00edritu Santo vino al mundo. <\/span>\u00a1Am\u00e9n!<\/span><\/p>\n
